Colorado, one of the Western states,
rich in American history, beautiful mountains with ski resorts and
scenic landscape, has become one of the states that has put draconian
restrictions on firearms and firearm owners. It was because of the
horrific tragedy during a midnight showing of the latest Batman
series films at a theater in Aurora, Colorado [suburb of Denver] that
triggered the anti-firearm movement in that state.

Thompson/Center, Venture Model Recall
Thompson/Center Arms [Smith &
Wesson] has identified a possible problem where the safety lever
in certain rifles may bind preventing the safety from becoming fully
engaged. Closing the bolt may move the safety to the fire position.
The problem seems to be in the sear, an important part of the firing
mechanism.
The Venture model T/C rifle produced
from August 1, 2011 to October 28, 2011 may not have been
manufactured to specification involving the sear. Smith &
Wesson offers the rifle to be returned for inspection and, if
necessary, replacement of the sear.
However, Thompson/Center [Smith & Wesson] has initiated a recall to allow for inspection and,
if necessary, the repair of each rifle. To determine if your rifle is
affected, refer to serial number list located at:
You can also call Smith & Wesson
directly at 1-800-713-0356.
NOTE: Any unintended discharge of a
firearm has the potential to cause injury, so it is best to stop
using the rifle until the sear has been inspected. When you return
your rifle to Smith & Wesson [Thompson/Center], be sure to attach
the completed information card received from Smith & Wesson, so
your sear can be inspected and repaired/replaced; as well as return
the rifle to you as quickly as possible. When your rifle is returned,
you should see a punch dot on the trigger assembly. This is
confirmation that your sear has been inspected and any possible
hazard was not found and thus not corrected.

Firearm Safety: Important Aspects of Firearm Ownership
Probably the best posted safety rules
is published
by the NRA:
- ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
This is the primary rule of gun safety. A safe direction means that the gun is pointed so that even if it were to go off it would not cause injury or damage. The key to this rule is to control where the muzzle or front end of the barrel is pointed at all times. Common sense dictates the safest direction, depending on different circumstances. In the military firing ranges, we were told to always keep the muzzle “down range” - always good advice. The key is you cannot go wrong if you treat every firearm as if it were loaded.

In the News: Arkansas School with Armed Faculty
(Fox News, Todd Starnes)
… Media, politicians, and progressives in general think that
disarming the populace is the solution to firearm violence and
protect children. A private school in Arkansas sees things
differently, probably noticing that government schools do not allow
administration and staff to volunteer to exercise second amendment
rights and protect themselves and their wards – the students.
Progressives idea of protection is to post a sign forbidding firearms
near and within educational institutions, spending tax money for
police protection and some schools in violent gang-filled
neighborhoods, provide a metal detecting device to use on anyone
entering the building. Some schools even have bullet-proof entrances
that can only be unlocked by a staff member present at the main
entrance. As in the Aurora, Colorado theater massacre, a sign was
posted forbidding even those with conceal-and-carry permits to bring
firearms into the building. Statistics show that those intending to
commit violent crimes and mass murder choose places where they know
they people present will be unarmed.

Outside the Arkansas Christian
Academy in Arkansas, a sign is posted [left] that reads:
Staff is armed and trained. Any attempt to harm children will be met with deadly force.
...the purpose of the sign is to prevent us from ever having to use any kind of force. We have a moral obligation to protect those children in our care and we're dedicated to doing that with whatever means are necessary. I'd rather be in the news for having a sign than having a tragedy. … We would prefer to limit our activities to just lovingly caring for people in our care, but occasionally there are those predators outside who would like to harm little sheep in our care. As shepherds, it is our responsibility to provide the protection until we can get the law enforcement here to take care of matters.
Just
about on a daily basis, somewhere in America lives are saved by
people who have firearms, usually reported by local media, the
national mainstream media ignores that and picks and chooses upon
what they report on – something that provides an anti-firearm,
anti-second amendment attitude. OpEd and opinion columns constantly
ignore truthful statistics that show places where the citizens arm
themselves and ensure they are trained to handle firearms safely and
react properly [video games is not a self-defense training program]
have lower violent crime incidents. Predators do not like victims
that fight back.

Kentucky Rifle and AR-15: The Patriot's Weapon of Choice
...For well over a half-century, the nation's liberals and progressives … have waged war on traditions, customs and moral values. ...there are no moral absolutes, to our young people. To them, what's moral or immoral is a matter of convenience, personal opinion, or a consensus. … Customs, traditions, moral values and rules of etiquette, not laws and government regulations, are what make for a civilized society. … The importance of customs, traditions and moral values as a means of regulating behavior is that people behave themselves even if nobody's watching. Police and laws can never replace these restraints on personal conduct so as to produce a civilized society.
Walter E. Williams
In
recent history there has been a constant assault upon the Second
Amendment and the unalienable
and natural right
for law abiding citizens to protect themselves against predators that
prey upon society, especially when they know the victims are unarmed
and unable to fight back.
Despite the US Supreme Court finally agreeing and decreeing that the
Second Amendment means what the short paragraph says.

Crossbow Bill Now in Wisconsin Senate Committee
The Wisconsin state Senate Natural
Resources Committee has scheduled a public hearing for Assembly Bill 194, sponsored by state Representative Mary Czaja
(R-35) and Senator Paul Farrow (R-33) that will allow all
hunters the freedom to use a crossbow during the same hunting period
of big game archery season.
The state of Wisconsin's traditions
have always included hunting in their rich heritage of farming,
forestry, and Great Lake maritime activities. AB 194 has already
passed the state Assembly [June 6th] in an unanimous roll-call vote. The NRA
asks for continued support in this endeavor.

Right of Self Defense and Property is Natural Law
Patriot Post graphic |
Reuters
… Florida lawmakers will hold hearings concerning the 'Stand Your
Ground' law that has raised arguments pro and con with no concept to
the reality that self-defense is everyone's right by natural law.
Sir William Blackstone, English
jurist stated:
Man … must necessarily be subject to the laws of his Creator. This will of his Maker is called the law of nature … This law of nature, is, of course, superior to any other. No human laws are of any validity, if contrary to this: and such of them as are valid derive all their force from this original.
