In
tradition, the practice of dry
firing
was taboo, a cardinal sin. However, in every function test of a
military firearm – dry firing is part of the function test.
So
is it a myth passed down by generations, or based upon fact?
I
would like to settle this argument with logic and science …
The
answer, to make this article shorter, is it depends on the firearm.
Most modern firearms are not damaged, unless performed thousands of
times over and over when dry firing.
This year my birthday falls on Thanksgiving Day, November 28th.
In celebration and for the seasonal holiday from November 28th to December 4th 2013 "American In Turkey" will be reduced from $2.99 list price to $0.99!
You
do not have to own a Kindle [although they are great to have with a
large library you can carry with you everywhere you go], because Amazon
offers a chance to download a Kindle Reader for free and read books on
your PC - laptop, notebook or all-in-one.
So take advantage of the
reduced price and purchase my book about the time I spent in Turkey at
NATO HQ LSE, Izmir and an interesting history and background and events
that occurred in the 1980s when I spent 4.5 years of my military career.
There are photos to make it more interesting I took with my Canon 35mm
["old school"] camera. I estimate I shot at least 1500 photos during my
stay there in Izmir and visits to historical places like Ephesus,
Pergamum, the site of Homer's Troy, Istanbul, Mersin [where Saint
Nicholas was born], Tara (or Taurus) [where Saint Paul was born], and
site of the oldest village archaeological site in human history - 35,000
years ago.
Thanks ahead of time for purchasing and reading my book.
In
the future: "History of the US 4th Cavalry" - a digital reprint of a
hard copy book registered with the Library of Congress. [Will be
published at Book Nook, a Barnes & Noble digital book site].
For
238 years, The United States Marine Corps has proudly served our
great Nation with unfailing valor – bolstered by the enduring
fortitude of our fellow Marines,
our families, and our friends. This is why each year on November
10th, Marines from all generations gather together, in groups large
and small, to celebrate the birthday of our Corps and to reflect on
the proud legacy and warrior ethos we share. This is what unites us
as Marines. From our first battle at New Providence to today in
Afghanistan, Marines have always shown that they were made of tougher
stuff – that when the enemy’s fire poured in from all angles, and
the situation was grim, Marines unequivocally knew that their fellow
Marines would stay behind their guns, fight courageously, and drive
the enemy from the battlefield. We have always known hardship,
fatigue, and pain…but we have never known what it is to lose a
battle!
Gun control is NOT for the good of the People; it is for the good of those operating government. It is good for tyrants who want control of the People.
Firearm
registration leads to firearm confiscation. It is a method of making it
easier to find and confiscate firearms from lawful citizens – the
beginning of the end to civil rights and liberties.
Chronological History of Gun Control
1911
– The Ottoman Empire of Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to
1917, 1.5 million Armenians, with no means of defense, were rounded up
and exterminated by Ottoman authorities. When General Mustafa Kemal “Ataturk” led the revolt and ousted European nations who intended to take advantage of the collapsing Ottoman Empire; Ataturk ushered in freedom for the Turkish people and separated religion from state affairs. Ataturk
was the “George Washington” of Turkey, and a former English officer who
fought against him wrote his best biography. Respected by many and
revered by the Turkish people, Ataturk with the help of scholars rewrote
schoolbooks in the European form of the Turkish written language in
only six months, and ushered the movement that put Turkey into the 20th century.
In the 10th century Norse sailors called Vikings
explored and settled areas of the North Atlantic, including
northeastern parts of North America; however archaeological evidence has
shown the Norsemen went as far as the Kensington, Minnesota.
According to the Sagas of Icelanders, Norsemen sailed from Iceland and settled in Greenland
in the late 900s and while settlements in Greenland lasted 500 years,
on mainland North America settlements didn’t last long, either by
disease or attacks by native tribesmen of the region. [I] Also, it is thought that the Little Ice Age
of the medieval period of history may have caused farming problems and
thus starving population that may have caused the settlers to leave or
die off. [II]
In
honor of those Scandinavian descendants that settled, specifically in
the northern part of the Door Peninsula, I have put together a history
of the famed period of Scandinavia that is known as the Viking Age.
Here in the Peninsula, we have a rich historical heritage of cultural
history, families that came to the New World for various reasons, and
settled in what became known as the Door Peninsula, Door County,
Wisconsin. The very first European settlers here in this region, the
peninsula, were French explorers, traders, and trappers who mingled and
became friends, and sometimes joined, the tribes of Native Americans,
incorrectly called Indians by Christopher Columbus,
who married women of the local tribes and lived generation after
generation here on the Peninsula and Washington Island. Today, those
descendants, Native Americans, still have the French surnames of their
ancestors.
We must realize that no arsenal
or no weapon in the arsenals of the world is so formidable as the
will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our
adversaries in today's world do not have. It is a weapon that we as
Americans do have. Let that be understood by those who practice
terrorism and prey upon their neighbors.
Progressive Democrat's solution to
prevent criminal use of firearms is to ban firearms preventing
law-abiding citizens Second Amendment rights to defend themselves,
and overlooks that the background check system does not identify
mentally disturbed individuals. It is insanity what they think up for solutions in preventing tragedies involving firearms.
Samuel
Colt [July 19th 1814 to January 10th
1862] was an American inventor and successful industrialist from
Hartford, Connecticut, founding Colt's firearms manufacturing company
that is known today as Colt's
Manufacturing Company making the revolver a mass production.
Mr. Colt's first business venture was
producing firearms in Paterson, New Jersey and making underwater
mines, which ended in failure; however, his business expanded quickly
after 1847 when the Texas
Rangers ordered 1,000 revolvers during the American
war with Mexico. During the American
Civil War, his factory in Hartford, Connecticut supplied sidearms
to both the North and South and later used during the settlement of
the western frontier. When Colt died in 1862 he was one of the
wealthiest men in America.
The way to establishing a hold upon the
people by a tyrannical government [as Joseph Stalin and Mao
implemented] is to institutionalize its youth via the educational
system, as is evident when US school textbooks were examined as
discussed at NRAILA:
Recent news out of Texas has
pro-rights parents reaching for their children's backpacks after it
was revealed that a popular textbook used to teach high school
advanced placement U.S. history courses includes a shocking
misinterpretation of the Second Amendment. Published by AMSCO School
Publications, Inc., and titled, United States History: Preparing for
the Advanced Placement Exam, the 2010 edition of the textbook
incorrectly summarizes the Second Amendment as meaning, "The
people have the right to keep and bear arms in a state militia."
The Canejo Valley School District of Thousand Oaks, Calif., has made
a copy of the entire text
of the widely-used volume available on its website.
Time and again, scandal upon scandal, President Obama's usual words about revelations is: "I wasn't aware". That is just as scary as being aware and ordering those scandalous actions that has come to the forefront, despite the mainstream-corporate media's shelving facts and events, shielding this president's scandalous administration.
How sad that one of the original
thirteen colonies that fought for freedom and ratified the US
Constitution would be so tyrannical when it comes to the Second
Amendment, the state joining the radical anti-firearm movement of New York State.

Officers responded to a report of
a burglary at the house at 4:20 p.m. Oct 1. There was also a report
that hazardous materials appeared to be present, police said.
Explosive devices, more than 250 guns and tens of thousands of rounds
of ammunition were found at a Bronson Road house, and authorities
closed off the street. … By the next day, the explosive devices had
been removed and detonated, police and fire officials said at the
time. But potentially dangerous substances remained in the house and
needed to be removed by professionals, they said at a press
conference Wednesday morning. Police inventoried and seized 274
firearms from the home on Wednesday, said Deputy Chief of police
Chris Lyddy.
