Obama and associates have taken over your healthcare and made the IRS gestapo more powerful. It has given unconstitutional authority to the FCC and EPA. Obama has bypassed regulations and Congress by making millions of lawbreakers citizens. Now, through the FCC, he plans to take over the Internet – the last free enterprise. The FCC will regulate the Internet under rules written for monopoly utilities. The ruling plan has been kept secret and no details of the proposed takeover has not been revealed to Congress. The new regulation is supposed to be more than 300 pages. Big Government has taken over our economy, which includes healthcare that represents one-fifth of US gross national product.

The amazing octopus was featured in a news story a few hours ago, so I thought to share it with you.

While in the Mediterranean area for 4.5 years, one of my favorite dishes was octopus salad, a favorite among the locals in Greece, Spain, and Turkey as well as other Mediterranean restaurants who serve it as their specialty for tourists.

The octopus is a remarkable creature, member of the invertebrate family of species, cephalopod mollusc, Octopoda; it is one of the most intelligent and adaptable creatures found in marine waters. It defends itself by expulsion of ink and using camouflage, as well as the ability to jet quickly into hiding places. Having a hard beak that can break hard shells of crabs, they are also venomous, but only one specie is known to be deadly to humans: the blue-ringed octopus. There are about 300 species, which is one-third of the total number of known cephalopod species.

Michael Bloomberg is a very wealthy man who devotes his life to interfering with other lives. He has put millions of dollars in a campaign against the Second Amendment (and other amendments), who was once the mayor of New York City. While he has person armed security personnel protecting him, he demands that other citizens not be afforded the opportunity to defend themselves. He has also been an advocate of putting himself and government in charge as to what people can and cannot eat, like the food police program of Michelle Obama.

Heroes: Michael Thornton

Michael Edwin Thornton was born on March 23^rd, 1949 in Greenville, South Carolina.

 After graduating high school in 1967 he enlisted in the US Navy, serving aboard destroyers as a gunner's mate apprentice until November of 1968 when he began Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training. 

Upon graduation, he was assigned to SEAL Team 1 and began a series of tours in southeast Asia which ran from January 1, 1970 to December of 1972.

This recipe is not only a traditional St. Patrick Day feast, but it is something to serve on cold arctic days like the last week of February here in Wisconsin …

½ cup flour

coarse salt and ground black pepper

3 pounds boneless lamb stew meat, shoulder best, trim excess fat and cut into 2-inch cubes

3 tablespoons olive oil

1 large onion, chopped or 2 tablespoons minced onion

¾ teaspoon dried thyme

1-1/2 cup dark beer

1-1/2 pounds red potatoes, quartered ( I do not peel them)

1 pound carrots, peeled and cut into ½ thick slices

3 tablespoons chopped fresh or dried parsley

1. In large bowl, season flour with salt and pepper. Dredge lamb in flour mixture, shaking off excess. In a Dutch oven, heat oil over medium heat. Working in batches, brown lamb on all sides, about 5 minutes per batch. Transfer to a plate.
2. Pour ¼ cup water into pot, scraping up browned bits from bottom with a wooden spoon. Add onion, cook, stirring occasionally until water has evaporated and onion is beginning to soften, about 5 minutes. Return lamb to pot; stir in thyme, beer and 1-1/2 cups water. Cover; simmer until lamb is tender, 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
3. Add potatoes, carrots, and ½ cup water. Cook, covered, until vegetables are tender and stew has thickened, about 20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Let cool completely before storing. Stir in parsley just before serving.

St. Patrick's Day Dessert: Kiss of Bailey's Fudge Cookies

Saint Patrick's Day is coming soon, so this recipe is a dessert/snack to have the traditional corned beef, Irish stew, lamb roast with traditional Irish trimmings. Dark chocolate is best in terms of health wise over milk chocolate. The recipe serves 36.

½ cup flour

1 egg

¾ cup butter, melted

2/3 cup milk

Prime Minister of Israel to Visit Next Month to Address Congress and Americans

Keith Koffler wrote an article about Prime Minister Netanyahu and his visit next month to address Congress.

President Obama has insulted Israel and their prime minister since 2009. Our president is more cordial to Iran's leadership, whose Islamic clerics have declared war upon the United States, funded and supported Jihadists, and whose agenda is to destroy Israel.

Airline Traveler Gets Upset at Security Checkpoint

It seems that people in the United States are not the only ones who get upset over stupid regulations and actions of airport security.

A traveler at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg, Russia, got upset when he was asked to remove his belt. So he went above and beyond and removed every bit of clothing including his watch, but left his socks on.

Good News in Wisconsin: Two Bills Introduced in Legislature to End 48-Hour Wait

Senate Bill 35 and Assembly Bill 49 have been introduced in the Wisconsin State Legislature, and if passed, will repeal Wisconsin's 48-hour waiting period for handgun purchases.

As other states have done, waiting period state laws required for firearm purchases have been repealed because it has never been proven that it deters anyone from committing a crime with a firearm and it punishes lawful citizens with waiting periods and state fees for firearm background checks.

Rare-Earth Metal Found in Atantic Ocean

While looking for deep-sea animals, a German research vessel, SONNE, discovered large lumps of rare-earth metals in the deep trench between Africa and South America according to officials from GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research. It is the largest deposit of manganese nodules known to exist in the Atlantic Ocean.

So far, the largest deposits known is in the Pacific Ocean, according to Colin Devey in a press release, lead scientist on the expedition. The globes of rare-earth metal range in size from golf balls to bowling balls.

According to Popular Science:

Manganese nodules grow incredibly slowly, at the rate of mere millimeters over the course of a million years. They are also a potential source of the rare earth elements that companies use to manufacture high-tech electronics, like smart phones. Last summer the UN's International Seabed Authority issued the first deep sea exploration permits, allowing companies to start actively looking for places to mine nodules and other sources of rare earth elements from the ocean floor. The start of exploration raises a lot of questions about the economic and environmental costs of deep sea mining.

US Constitution is Law of the Land - and Includes the Second Amendment

The Wyoming House of Representatives has found a way to counter the problem of obtaining the necessary drugs, that have come to be quite expensive, with a cheaper way – via ammunition. The ^th that would legalize firing squads as a means of state execution. Senate File 13 passed with a vote of 32-28 and only after an amendment was added to ensure that any death row inmates would be rendered unconscious before being shot.

Current laws dictate that if lethal injections are not available, executions will be conducted with lethal gas; but the state has no working gas chamber and the maintenance of one is too costly. Consideration of bringing back electrocution was also deemed too costly.

The Snowden Case: Whistleblower or Traitor?

Edward Joseph Snowden was born June 21, 1983, an American computer professional who leaked classified information from the NSA (National Security Agency) to the mainstream media beginning in June of 2013. Some called him a whistleblower patriot, but when he flew to Hong Kong in May of 2013, met with Russian diplomats and flew to Moscow, where he received asylum status, he became a traitor.

In June of 2013, the US Department of State revoked his passport and the US Department of Justice charged him with two counts of violation of the Espionage Act and theft of government property.

Avalanche Victim Rescued at Afton, Wyoming Slopes

Avalanche, just the word makes your spine cold. In a Wikipedia entry:

… Avalanches are typically triggered in a starting zone from a mechanical failure in the snowpack (slab avalanche) when the forces on the snow exceed its strength but sometimes only with gradually widening (loose snow avalanche). After initiation, avalanches usually accelerate rapidly and grow in mass and volume as they entrain more snow. If the avalanche moves fast enough some of the snow may mix with the air forming a powder snow avalanche, which is a type of gravity current. The load on the snowpack may be only due to gravity, in which case failure may result either from weakening in the snowpack or increased load due to precipitation. Avalanches that occur in this way are known as spontaneous avalanches. Avalanches can also be triggered by other loads such as skiers, snowmobilers, animals or explosives. Seismic activity may also trigger the failure in the snowpack and avalanches.

In Afton, Wyoming, a snowmobiler found out how quickly an avalanche can occur and why those using snowmobiles should exercise caution when traversing snow-covered mountainous regions. The loud noise alone could cause an avalanche.

Too Many Threats and Not Enough Action

The Islamic State has grown in numbers, despite air targeting, expanding beyond Syria and Iraq, establishing itself in Libya.

Meanwhile, China and Russia are expanding their strategic nuclear forces with new missile systems, as reported to the House Armed Services Committee on global threats. President Obama has downplayed all of it, especially the Iran nuclear threat. Indeed, he has included as a national security threat in recent report to Congress the climate change/global warming phenomenon.

Despite billions of US dollars in support and training, Iraq and Afghanistan are unable to defend their countries from ISIL and their coalition terrorist groups.

A combination growing threat is posed by China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea and critical because Obama would rather spend tax dollars on foreign aid and broken programs like Obamacare.

...ruled that the federal law prohibiting handgun sales to out of state residents ...is in violation of both the Second and Fifth amendments.

Sometimes Nice Things Happen at the White House

It’s one of the nice things Mrs. Obama does – occasionally surprising guests by making herself part of the White House tour. In this case, they were being brought into the newly redecorated White House Old Family Dining Room, which is open to the public for the first time. Mrs. Obama invited former First Daughter Jenna Bush Hager to join her, which was a classy thing to do. Jenna looks great, doesn’t she? Interesting how many people recognize her and seem glad to see her.

Primacy of Montana Law and Federal Waste Report

Montana Senator Janna Taylor introduced a bill: Primacy of Montana Law that will nullify any “court, arbitration or administrative agency ruling” that uses any foreign law. Effectively it is an anti-Sharia bill modeled off similar legislation that has passed in Louisiana, Kansas, and Tennessee.

Update on Chris Kyle's Murder and Christians Fight Back as Militia

As the trial is coming up for Eddie Ray Routh who killed America's hero and companion, the background information about the defendant on trial for dual murders what was originally stated by the media about the circumstances is coming out different.

In February of 2014, 25-year-old Iraq war veteran, Eddie Ray Routh, traveled to a rifle range in Glen Rose, Texas, where he shot and killed Chad Littlefield, 36, a facilities manager for an oil-service firm and Chris Kyle, 38, whose background is well known.

The major journalist who wrote about Kyle was Nicholas Schmidle, who wrote a 13,000-word article [In the Crosshairs] published in The New Yorker. He was also the journalist that wrote the August 2011 article about the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound.

Shipwreck Stew: Revised From Original Recipe

I made this recipe from an old sailor galley recipe that has various ingredients, but modernized and minus some ghastly (today's standards) ingredients. Pirates and ship cooks would make stew out of anything they could find when ashore for fresh game and wild vegetables that were not already in casks aboard the ship.

1 pound stew meat – sirloin or chuck cut into 1-1/2-inch chunks

1 can chicken meat, drained and chopped

2 cups beef stock

1 medium onion, chopped or one tablespoon of minced onion

1 can of diced potatoes or 4 red potatoes cut into chunks with skin on

1 can kidney beans, undrained

1 cup green beans, diced

1 can diced tomatoes

1 cup broccoli

Since the last article was about the Golden Age of Piracy, I thought it appropriate to pass on a modern version of pirate/sailors stew; more appetizing than the recipe at the aforementioned article. Pirate Stew [Modern Version]

1 pound beef stew meat, cut into 1-inch pieces

3 tablespoons flour

salt and black pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 small sweet potato, chopped

3 small potatoes, chopped

1 celery rib, chopped

1 turnip, chopped

2 parsnips, chopped

2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

1 tablespoon butter

1 small onion, chopped

¾ cup pineapple juice

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/4-cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon crushed garlic

1 cube beef bouillon

3 tablespoons rum

Golden Age of Piracy: The Real Pirates of the Caribbean

Pirates of the Caribbean, a popular film series, is part of the film industry’s history of pirate films. Of course, what is called the “pirate age” – mostly operating in the Caribbean Sea area – is the Golden Era of Pirates, the Elizabethan Age. It was also an age of exploration.
Explorers, as well as privateers, were classified as pirates because they attacked the Spanish treasure fleet sailing from the New World back to Spain with their conquistador booty. This is where the name “Spanish Main” – the main route for ships sailing to and from Spain came from.

Serves 4

12 ounces shiitake mushrooms, stemmed

12 ounces white mushrooms, trimmed

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

Salt and black pepper

2 shallots, minced

2 tablespoons minced sage

4 garlic cloves, minced

¼ ounce dried porcini mushrooms, rinsed and chopped fine

1/2-cup dry white wine

4 cups water plus 1/4-cup hot water

12 ounces (3-3/4-cups) companelle, penne, or fusilli

2 ounces Pecarino Romano cheese, grated (1-cup) plus extra for serving

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2 tablespoons minced fresh chives

Bacon Wrapped Cream Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breast

A big thanks to my Aunt Helen who passed this “Hillbilly Recipe” to me via Facebook. 

2 Boneless skinless chicken breast
4 tablespoons cream cheese
1/4 cup Pepperjack cheese, shredded
2 tablespoons green onion, chopped
4 to 8 pieces of bacon
1. Cut chicken into 4 equal size pieces. Pound breast so it is about 1/4" thick.
2. Mix together softened cream cheese, chopped green onions and shredded pepperjack cheese. Put 1/4 of this mixture into the middle of each piece of chicken.
3. Starting at the long side, roll chicken breast up, keeping the cheese mixture to the middle.
4. Wrap 1 to 2 slices of bacon around the chicken breast, secure with toothpick, if needed.
5. One piece of bacon wrapped around each breast is enough. But 2 pieces of bacon for each breast fully wraps the chicken and is outstanding.
6. Place on baking sheet and back for 30 minutes at 375 degrees F.
7. Broil topside for about 5 minutes to fully brown and crisp bacon. Turn each breast over and broil for another 3 minutes or so to crisp up the bottom side.

In the News: Firearm Legislation, Politics, and Living with Wolves

Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) introduced S. 263 and Representative Bob Gibbs (R-Ohio) introduced H.R. 578 to protect the rights of gun owners on lands owned or managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers.

In May of 2009, legislation passed that reduced restrictions concerning possession of firearms for self-defense in National Parks and Wildlife Refuge lands. The legislation instituted the rules that federal lands must incorporate the laws of the state where the lands are located. Unfortunately, it did not include millions of acres of recreational land managed by the Corps, which owns or manages 11.7 million acres that include 400 lakes and rivers, 90,000 campsites, and 4,000 miles of trails. The Corps policy forbade visitors to the Corps managed lands to lawfully possess a firearm while on Corps land.
