Laws
that forbid the carrying of arms … disarm only those who are
neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes … Such laws make
things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they
serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed
man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.Cesare Beccaria
Note: the quote comes from a translation of an essay by Beccaria entitled "Essay on Crimes and Punishment" - sometimes falsely attributed to Thomas Jefferson.
CMMG is offering an AR platform rifle
that has the features of the AK-47, a hybrid: Mk47 Mutant.
While the idea of chambering an AR
platform rifle with AK47 7.62x39mm rounds is not new CMMG has
engineered a hybrid rifle that has the ease of takedown of an AR
15/M16 with a receiver designed for the 7.62x39mm cartridge that has
more range/power than the 5.56mm/.223 caliber.
SIG Sauer has prided itself in
innovative firearms design and the new Model MCX is no exception. It
is built with standards for the military, reliable, gas-operated,
short-stroke piston system that is the first AR platform rifle that
has an auto-regulating gas system which allows shooters to switch
between supersonic and subsonic loads, or unsuppressed or suppressed
operation, without manually adjusting the gas system. That means
quick changes will not compromise its operation.
Having to move to Sturgeon Bay, this seems to be the only Hummingbird that has been attracted to my feeder (thus far). I believe it is a fellow down the street who voted for Obama and believes Hillary is a victim of 'right-wing' vicious attacks (you know like they did to Bush and Condi), who annoyed me while cutting grass insisting I was a racist for not supporting Obama; and said I was 'delusional denier' because I do not believe in the global warming hoax, insensitve because I am against the Planned Parenthood Gestapo, 'homophobic' because I am against the US Supreme Court telling state governments they must recognize same-sex marriage, a 'radical' because I support the Tea Party and constitutionalism, that I shoud die because I am a 'baby-boomer' who is stealing younger generation's social security benefits, I am 'NeoCon' Neanderthal because I believe in 2nd Amendment and belong to the NRA. and 'Islamophobic' for warning about Islamic fascists in our homeland and their murderous destruction elsewhere - not realizing that I know the enemy after my excursion to liberate Kuwait from members of the 'religion of peace' in Persian Gulf. He calls himself a Democrat, but his political platform is democratic-socialism believing that anyone that disagrees with him and does not support his ideology and misquotations of the books of the Bible and is a relative of the Biblical ass despite believing that Christians should not be seen nor heard, apparently never looks upon his own reflection. Meanwhile feeding for free from my feeder meant for true Hummingbirds insisting that he IS a Hummingbird, he insists that I am delusional for not believing he is a hummingbird ...
For 30 years, the Ruger
Redhawk revolver has been in production since its introduction in
1979.
In 2007, after success of the 4.2-inch
44 Magnum Redhawk,
Ruger produced a wheel gun chambered for 45 Colt. In 2014, Ruger
introduced a Redhawk with a 2.75-inch barrel with a round-butt grip
(TALO).
Three grip styles for Ruger Redhawk
This year, the newest Redhawk has the
round-butt grip with a 4.2-inch barrel in .45 Colt caliber, but also
affords the shooter the opportunity of using the .45 ACP ammunition
through the use of moon clips. The grips are quality wood that is
checkered for a good grip. Those that prefer rubber grips can install
a Hogue grip. The rear sight
is adjustable for windage and elevation, and the front sight is black
with a red insert.
Specs: The Redhawk .45 Colt/.45 ACP
revolver weighs 44.8 ounces with a 4.16-inch barrel. Trigger pull is
a crisp 7 pounds in single action and 9.9 pounds in double action.
Barrel/Cylinder gap is 0.006. The MSRP is $1,029.
I am off topic in so far as gunsmithing
and the subject of firearms in general, but those who were former
readers of Lighthouse Journal (established in 1999 first as “Keifer's Korner”
know that besides being a connoisseur (Webster English word
from France) of firearms and weaponry, I have a passion for history,
literature, and American patriotism.
Reviewing the visits of
readership here at Old Glory, I find that the most popular are
my articles concerning tips and tricks concerning firearms and my
historical essays. The readership is primarily in the United States,
but also folks from: Israel, Germany, France, Ukraine, United
Kingdom, Australia, Canada, India, Turkey, and Russia being the
primary nations.
Democrats are relentless when it comes
to controlling everything, depriving rights of majority for minority. They could not ban firearms in US Congress
(but state governments have passed draconian, anti-constitutional and
useless control on firearms), so now they focus upon ammunition; for
without ammunition firearms are nothing. They pass or try to pass
laws pretending they are protecting something; often it is about
subjects that they personally know nothing about or even understand
what or how the bill reads, like Obamacare (Affordable Healthcare
legislation).
