It is difficult to fire a government
employee, more difficult than the private sector, it seems that
applies to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Indianapolis,
concerning an email sent by a manager at the clinic, reported by the
Indianapolis
Star and Stars
& Stripes …
The email obtained by The
Indianapolis Star contains photographs of a toy Christmas elf posing
as a patient in what appears to be the hospital's transitional clinic
for returning veterans. In one photograph, the elf pleads for Xanax.
In another, he hangs himself with an electrical cord. The woman who
sent the email is Robin Paul, a licensed social worker who manages
the hospital's Seamless Transition Integrated Care Clinic. The clinic
provides returning veterans with transition assistance, including
mental health and readjustment services. …
Fear is gripping the land. And it’s a good thing. For the Left, anyway,
which has the perfect palliative: the warm, comforting embrace
of government.Did you now, a new threat to students has been identified by school
district officials in Eau Claire, Wisconsin? Veterans. Veterans trying
to teach kids about patriotism and sacrifice. As part of a Veterans Day program for the schools, the former service
members traditionally fire a 21-gun salute using blanks. The tradition
reportedly goes back to the 1930s. No more.
In
the 1930s, the problems of Europe, the building of forces led by evil
mad men, did not concern Americans, who remembered the horror of the
World War that would end
all wars.
Despite
signing a pact with Hitler, the United States and Great Britain (UK)
sided with a communist leader whose crimes of genocide and murder
almost matched that of Adolph
Hitler
– and then our leaders allowed the Soviet Union to carve up eastern
Europe creating Soviet satellite states that would usher in the Cold
War. Veterans in the United Kingdom and other places in Europe fought
against tyranny and evil only to see younger generations forget all
of it and concede to progressive socialists, self-gratification, and apathy.
Sgt Tahmooressi is a US Marine
hero and his story should be well known to most Americans today. He
represents forgotten veterans. He represents that our foreign policy
is bankrupt, because we cater to the Mexican government, our southern
neighbor, who encourages its people to cross the border illegally
being told it is justified because the United States illegally
possesses Mexican real estate. The Mexican government criticizes our
immigration system and Americans who insist that the border be
secured so ranches just north of that border do not have to fear
property destruction, home invasion and other despicable violent
crimes.
There are organizations that support
brave men and women of the armed forces to get help navigating the
bureaucracy of the Veterans Administration - but they are privately funded with no help from feds.
The workforce is looking bleak, all
because of the predicted
results of Obamacare whose statistics have been released by the
Federal Reserve Banks in Philadelphia, New York, and Atlanta.
New hiring has been reduced and
employers are moving their workers from full time to part time. 18.2%
of employers say they cut the amount of workers and that same amount
stated they were increasing the amount of part-time workers.
As is usual with legislators of the
federal government, spending more is the answer to any solution. On
July 28th, a conference committee of House and Senate
leaders agreed on a bill designed to overhaul the troubled
Department of Veterans Affairs, which will cost $17 billion
that will crack down on VA employee wrongdoing and direct funding
toward solving the problems ensued by the recent scandal of waiting
time and falsifying records. It is called a “reform bill” and
will enact the following:
$10 billion will be placed in a created
Veterans Choice Fund in the US Treasury to fund private treatment
when vets cannot get a VA appointment within two weeks or live more
than 40 miles from a VA facility. It will also fund a pilot program
to provide access to outside care in five of the 23 VA service
networks that will be extended for two more years.
Starbucks CEO, Howard
Schultz, spoke out and announced that his corporation will
donate $30 million to help war veterans and plans to hire at least
10,000 Vets or their spouses over the next five years. As Leah
Barkoukis at Townhall
stated:
Let us hope that other business
leaders and companies follow suit.
CBS
conducted the interview after Schultz made a recent visit to Walter Reed hospital.
We must realize that no arsenal
or no weapon in the arsenals of the world is so formidable as the
will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our
adversaries in today's world do not have. It is a weapon that we as
Americans do have. Let that be understood by those who practice
terrorism and prey upon their neighbors.
There are a growing number of Americans
who are tired of American lives and taxpayer dollars being spent
fighting other nation's wars and defense programs. Senator Jim
Inhofe recently stated that Obama's
first budget cut the ground-based interceptor long-range missile
program in Poland granted under a previous treaty when it was in its
last stage of setup. By doing so, tax dollars were wasted. As far as
Poland is concerned, it will continue the program without the US
support, which means they are getting state-of-the-art technology
developed by US at a bargain – We the People footing the
bill.
President Obama [and progressive
comrades] may have been blaming
the government shutdown [about 17% of it] on the Republicans, but
the truth is that Senator Reid and Obama-Progressives in the Senate
as well as Obama himself is the one that refuses to curb spending in
proposed bills, as well as the House passing a bill that would cover
expenses but refuse to pay any taxpayer funds to Obamacare that the
majority of citizens don't want anyway – when they found out how
lame the program is and how it will be detrimental to their lives.
