Thoughts of the Pollution of the English Language and Other Social Atrocities

I am off topic in so far as gunsmithing and the subject of firearms in general, but those who were former readers of Lighthouse Journal (established in 1999 first as “Keifer's Korner” know that besides being a connoisseur (Webster English word from France) of firearms and weaponry, I have a passion for history, literature, and American patriotism. 

Reviewing the visits of readership here at Old Glory, I find that the most popular are my articles concerning tips and tricks concerning firearms and my historical essays. The readership is primarily in the United States, but also folks from: Israel, Germany, France, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, India, Turkey, and Russia being the primary nations. 

High School: Preparation For Higher Learning?

My memories of high school is not as special as my days attending the university, not necessarily academically, but socially and personally. Sadly, today's academic standards are less than what was demanded in my high school days; except when it comes to language where Spanish (no choice of other language like French/German or whatever) is required. Latin is relegated to the university and college students; entirely depending upon what they choose for their major.

Continuing the "Dumb-Down" Educational System

Mark Alexander, Patriot Post, wrote an essay that accurately describes what our educational system has become; a system established by Karl Marx in the Communist Manifesto, and adopted by the Democratic Party of the United States and “moderate” Republicans …

Education in America: As Bankrupt As The Economy

The Department of Education and National Education Association coupled with the myriad of other government organizations, agencies and bureaucratic offices seem to pat themselves on the back and saying what a great education system we have - but it is not true.
When it is pointed out how much our educational system is failing, those that operate our federal government think it just requires more funding or making up a program like No Child Left Behind, et cetera, which does nothing to fix the problem but makes the political prostitutes and incompetents in the education system, especially administration, "feel good".

Common Core: What It Really Is

Common Core State Standards is not set by the states, but by the federal government, further strengthening its agenda of centralization and in charge of something that is important to any civilized nation – education. Our government, and society, thinks that it just takes an increase in funding to solve the problems of education that has pushed us behind leadership in global educational standards. They keep changing the name of their socialist agenda – but the results is always the same: failure. It has become a method of indoctrination and distracting what schools are for – preparing them for the adult world armed with knowledge, but only that which is approved by the state. Logic has given away to emotion, which the state uses to control its populace.

Federal Government: Educational System, Second Amendment, and US Constitution

The way to establishing a hold upon the people by a tyrannical government [as Joseph Stalin and Mao implemented] is to institutionalize its youth via the educational system, as is evident when US school textbooks were examined as discussed at NRAILA:

Recent news out of Texas has pro-rights parents reaching for their children's backpacks after it was revealed that a popular textbook used to teach high school advanced placement U.S. history courses includes a shocking misinterpretation of the Second Amendment. Published by AMSCO School Publications, Inc., and titled, United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Exam, the 2010 edition of the textbook incorrectly summarizes the Second Amendment as meaning, "The people have the right to keep and bear arms in a state militia." The Canejo Valley School District of Thousand Oaks, Calif., has made a copy of the entire text of the widely-used volume available on its website.
