Titanium Bolt Carrier: Less Muzzle Rise, Recoil and Better Grouping

BoomFab has produced a low-mass, reduced-gas bolt carrier for the AR-15 rifles called the Titane Carrier. The Missouri manufacturer produces the carrier on a CNC system and claims to be the lightest bolt carrier on the market. Titanium is known for its strength and lightness, used in eyeglass frames to reduce weight. The reduced amount of gas is an added feature in the lightweight model, which reduces muzzle rise and recoil for faster and more accurate shots on the range and in competition. Aluminum bolt carriers were made, but proved unable to withstand any long term use.
Taurus has used titanium for the frames of their revolvers to reduce weight for some time now. Amalgamated Titanium produces bolt carriers in titanium as well as lowers, uppers, and forestocks, if you are interested in reducing overall weight of your custom AR-15. Titanium nitrate is also a popular coating for carriers because of its hardness.
The BoomFab carrier is compatible with standard mil-spec AR-15 bolts, firing pins, and retaining pins. It comes pre-installed with a mil-spec gas key and staked torx fasteners. The Titane Carrier also is available in a complete bolt carrier group to ensure that everything matches up. The unit includes a mil-spec HP/MP tested C158 bolt, firing pin, cam pin, and retaining pin.
This new innovation is costly. The Titane Carrier with gas key has an MSRP of $479 and the complete carrier group MSRP of $579. But if you are a competition shooter, it may be worth dipping into your wallet for this.
