Lost Children: Reinstitute Orphanages?

Children trapped in bad family situations, poverty and abuse, within the public welfare system is a serious matter; something one could not imagine occurring in the United States. In June 2014, the 24-hour call center of NCMEC received more than 3,989,626 calls since it was created in 1984 with information concerning missing or exploited children. Recent open border and lack of border security and laws being enforced by the federal government, an increase of child abductions and exploitation has risen due to the increase of the drug cartel operating north of the Mexican-US border. Those abducted children are sold like cattle or used in some exploitation operation of some sort, including child pornography. Children become missing for many reasons and the amount of missing children each year is disconcerting, to say the least.
This is something that should not be happening in the 21st century.

Ferguson Missouri: The Civil Mess Continues

The First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States guarantees that …
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Ferguson, Missouri has been a media target for national mainstream news agencies and commentators. One thing that is evident, people in Ferguson never bothered to wait for a hearing to determine if the shooting of Michael Brown was justified or not. Those that carried signs and walked the area in that police district had the right to protest – peaceably.

Heroes: Vernon Baker

Vernon Joseph Baker (1919-2010) was a United States Army officer who received the Medal of Honor, belatedly bestowed by President Bill Clinton in 1997. He died in 2010 at the age of 90.
He was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming and after his parents died in a car accident he was raised with two sisters by their grandparents. His grandfather was a railroad worker in Cheyenne and taught Vernon how to hunt in order to help bring food to the table. Graduating from high school, he worked as a railroad porter, until his grandfather's death in 1939. He attempted to enlist in the US Army in April of 1941, but was turned down by the recruiter. Baker tried again with a different recruiter and was accepted, requesting to become a quartermaster, but was assigned to the infantry. After completing Officer Candidate School he was commissioned as second lieutenant on January 11, 1943.

Heroes: Gregory "Pappy" Boyington

Gregory "Pappy" Boyington was born on December 4, 1912 in Coeur d'Arlene, Idaho, growing up in the logging town of St. Maries, Idaho and in Tacoma, Washington. He joined ROTC while attending the University of Washington and later worked for Boeing as a draftsman and engineer. In 1935, transferred to the Marine Corps Reserve and accepted an appointment as an aviation cadet. He signed up using his biological father's name of Gregory Boyington, his mother being Sioux. He was then assigned to the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. He was the first Native American to become a fighter pilot.

Heroes: Daniel Inouye

Daniel Inouye was born on September 7, 1924 (died December 17, 2012); a Nisei  Japanese American. During the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Inouye served as a medical volunteer. In 1943, the US Army dropped the ban of enlistment of Japanese Americans and Inouye dropped his premedical studies at the University of Hawaii, enlisting in the US Army. He volunteered for the Nisei 442nd Regimental Combat Team, promoted to sergeant in one year, assigned as platoon sergeant. He served in Italy in 1944, promoted for his brave actions in the battle to relieve the Lost Battalion to First Lieutenant. While leading an attack, a bullet struck his chest just above his heart, stopped by two silver dollars in his shirt pocket. He continued to carry the coins as lucky charms until they were lost during a battle in which he lost his arm.

Heroes: Charles G. Abrell

Charles Abrell was born in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1931; attended school in Las Vegas, Nevada, enlisting in the US Marine Corps in August of 1948. After completing training at Parris Island, South Carolina, Abrell was assigned to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, then the USS Noble and finally the 1st Marine Division in Korea.
Awarded Medal of Honor posthumously by President Harry S. Truman to Corporal Abrell, Charles G. - Company E, 2d Battalion, 1st Marine Division, USMC; Hangnyong, Korea, 10 June 1951.
For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as a fire team leader in Company E, in action against enemy aggressor forces. While advancing with his platoon in an attack against well-concealed and heavily fortified enemy hill positions, Cpl. Abrell voluntarily rushed forward through the assaulting squad which was pinned down by a hail of intense and accurate automatic-weapons fire from a hostile bunker situated on commanding ground. Although previously wounded by enemy hand grenade fragments, he proceeded to carry out a bold, single-handed attack against the bunker, exhorting his comrades to follow him. Sustaining 2 additional wounds as he stormed toward the emplacement, he resolutely pulled the pin from a grenade clutched in his hand and hurled himself bodily into the bunker with the live missile still in his grasp. Fatally wounded in the resulting explosion which killed the entire enemy gun crew within the stronghold, Cpl. Abrell, by his valiant spirit of self-sacrifice in the face of certain death, served to inspire all his comrades and contributed directly to the success of his platoon in attaining its objective. His superb courage and heroic initiative sustain and enhance the highest traditions of the U.S. Naval Service. He gallantly gave his life for his country.
Charles Abrell is buried in the West Lawn Cemetery in Farmersburg, Indiana.

Rome Burns While Obama Plays Golf and Cancels Meetings

The workforce is looking bleak, all because of the predicted results of Obamacare whose statistics have been released by the Federal Reserve Banks in Philadelphia, New York, and Atlanta.
New hiring has been reduced and employers are moving their workers from full time to part time. 18.2% of employers say they cut the amount of workers and that same amount stated they were increasing the amount of part-time workers.

Continuing the "Dumb-Down" Educational System

If a nation expects to be ignorant – and free – in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. Thomas Jefferson
Mark Alexander, Patriot Post, wrote an essay that accurately describes what our educational system has become; a system established by Karl Marx in the Communist Manifesto, and adopted by the Democratic Party of the United States and “moderate” Republicans …
The education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without a mother's care, shall be in state institutions at state expense.

Terrible Tragedy: Nine-Year-Old Accidently Shoots Range Instructor

Tragic news from Arizona
A range instructor was accidentally killed by his nine-year-old student. He was teaching her to shoot an Uzi submachinegun, not a weapon for a nine-year-old and/or first-time shooter.
She lost control when the selective was set for auto and a bullet in the head killed 39-year-old Charles Vacca.

Seniors and Conceal Carry Responsibilities

Recent news here at the Door Peninsula provides an embarrassment to Second Amendment rights activists and warrants a reminder of being a responsible firearm owner and concealed carry permit holder.
Back in March of 2014, a woman, Susan Hitchler, age 66, left her handgun in a stall of the women's restroom at Elmbrook Church. A church employee found the gun a few minutes later and turned it over to security. In a hearing held in June of 2014, Circuit Judge Lloyd V. Carter ruled on a defense motion to dismiss the case based on the fact that no crime was committed.
Hitchler told police she had removed the gun that was clipped to her waist when she used the restroom and forgot it. She called the church 30 minutes after she left when she realized she had left the firearm in the restroom. While no actual crime was committed, I agree with Nik Clark, president of Wisconsin Carry Inc., that leaving one's firearm in a public bathroom violates a rule of firearm safety: “Maintain control of your firearm at all times”.

Weird Science: True Stories - Trivia

Kidney Transplants: Modern medicine and surgical techniques have made kidney transplant surgery a success. What many do not know is that during the kidney transplant procedure, the non-working kidney is usually not removed – unless leaving it there would cause problems. Instead, the doctors will place the new kidney in your pelvis and then redirect the arteries and veins to that kidney.

Weird History: Unbelievable Tales

Here are some samples of weird true stories from history …
Bat Bomb: During World War II, a dentist who was friends with Eleanor Roosevelt, provided a plan for the government to use hundreds of bats to drop small incendiary bombs into different buildings in cities in Japan before detonation, causing massive fire damage. It was approved by the government to end a seemingly endless war with Imperial Japan, but never took place because the Manhattan Project  bombs were thought to be more effective and practical.

Message in a Bottle Found in the Baltic Sea

Back in April of 2014, a German fisherman, Konrad Fischer, retrieved an old beer bottle with a message out of the Baltic Sea near the city of Kiel, Germany. Researchers at the International Maritime Museum in Hamburg began to work at identifying the author of the message, written on a postcard in 1913.
They were able to track down the the author's granddaughter, Angela Erdmann, 62-years-old. The message on the postcard requested that the finder return it to the writer's home address in Berlin. It was dated 17 May 1913 making it 101 years old and a Guinness World Record

US Security and Foreign Policy Needs Serious Reformation

Our national leader signs agreements and provides support with those who hate the United States, enemies against Israel and all Christians across the world. Meanwhile, our leadership chastise Israel for defending itself, despite trying to reach peaceful means to stop conflict with Palestine and other Muslim nations. Compromise has been one sided. Our commander-in-chief is clueless about leadership beyond a "community organizer" and bends to Islamic Jihadists thinking that giving in to global bullies will bring peace.

Former Federal Employee Convicted of Child Pornography Enterprise

Timothy DeFoggi
It seems that corrupt and despicable people are being hired to work for the federal government, as the headlines show and FBI Report indicates. I cannot remember an executive branch administration ever being so corrupted with scandals, abuse of power, and dereliction of duty in any administration in my lifetime.
A former acting director of cybersecurity at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services [2008-2014] … Timothy DeFoggi, 56, was convicted of "engaging in a child exploitation enterprise, conspiracy to advertise and distribute child pornography, and accessing a computer with intent to view child pornography." His sentencing is scheduled for November.

Ferguson, Missouri: An Event That Should Not Happen in the 21st Century

Looting Nothing to Do With Issue, AP/David Carson/St. Louis Dispatch
The Ferguson, Missouri events have been well-televised and reported. It is reminiscent of the Watt riot and other incidents of an era of racial violence that should have ended in the 21st century; especially with the first 'black' President of the United States, who promised in 2008 that he would strive to promote unity and dissolve the racial divide. His administration's actions have proved it was a lie, like so many lies since. The evidence presented thus far points to the social disorder called "victimhood". Violence perpetuated before the situation was given time for investigation.

Weapons of Choice: AR - The Multi-Use Weapon

The AR-15/16 is the weapon of choice of armies and sport shooters around the globe. It is versatile and with certain configurations makes the top choice in home defense. It's light weight, reliability and easy field breakdown features has won the hearts and minds of US military personnel for decades – outperforming and selling the more economical AK-47. In rural areas, it has become a favorite predator and varmint control rifle and homestead defense weapon.
With all the build configurations available today, it can be confusing as to making a choice of how to configure your stock AR-15.

Weapons of Choice: Mossberg MVP Series

I have been partial to the Remington 30-06 bolt-action rifle, 700 series. I like the Mossberg shotguns, but the MVP bolt-action series of rifles is something to take notice; available in varmint, big-game and patrol rifle styles at a reasonable price.
It is the presentation of the all-purpose rifle, redesigned so it can use AR magazines, which allows greater capacity than what Remington offers. The entire Mossberg bolt-action family is centered around its excellent Lightning Bolt Action system that is a “drop-push” bolt offered in 5.56mm and 7.62mm. The chambering is military specs, so the civilian counterpart (.203/.308) can also be used; because the military chambering is larger and therefore does not cause a safety issue.

State Department: "ISIS Is Not About the United States and What We Do"

Let's face it, President Obama and his political minions of the executive branch are clueless; or at least believe that Americans are clueless/naive – which may have some truth because they elected him twice.
Deputy of State Department spokesperson Marie Harf on Wednesday condemned the beheading of American journalist James Foley by Islamic terrorists, but she also stated that the ISIS threat “is not about the United States and what we do”.  [or don't do]

Saving Our Republic

I have been to the jungles so thick with hard woods and vines our machetes became nicked from trying to cut it through hard wood. Tolerating swarms of mosquitoes, wading through putrid swamp waters as poisonous snakes swam by. Sleeping in humid jungle so thick that even in daylight the light was colored dark green; the night so dark and ominous with every creature found in nightmares coming out to feed. The humidity like a smothering blanket that quickly turned steel to rust.
I have suffered the heat of the great deserts of Arabia, where at night the temperature would drop drastically making it bitter cold. Sandstorms that clog machinery and blast the skin until it burns, visibility even with goggles almost zero.

The Secret of Living Life

It has been reported that Americans who are are collecting some element of welfare, like Obamacare Medicaid has expanded from 35.4% of the population in 2012 to 40% in 2014; which is almost the amount of people who pay less taxes (or no taxes) than the rest of the population. Mike Shedlockglobal economy analyst - determines that at least 50%-56% of the population collects on some type of welfare. If this statistic is true, it is more than the amount of people who get refunded most or all of the income tax collected in the course of a year - leaving the bill for the rest of the population, the minority.
It is certainly a testimony towards degradation of economy, society and certainly far from the constitutional republic created in 1780s.

New Army Combat Uniform (ACU) in 2014-2015

Michael Brown Story: Another Case of Media Causing Racial Tensions

The US Attorney General, Eric Holder, released a statement (Op-Ed) on August 20th, 2014 concerning the Ferguson, Missouri shooting of Michael Brown and subsequent looting and pillaging. He promised a “full, fair, independent” investigation.
Too bad the media does not have an honorable news reporting philosophy, as Ann Coulter points out in her article: No Facts, No Peace.
A taped conversation of eyewitness …
Him and the police was both in the truck, then he ran -- the police got out and ran after him ... Then the next thing I know he comes back toward the truck 'cause -- the police had his gun drawn already on him. The police kept dumping on him, and I'm thinking that the police missing ... but he kept coming toward him.

Allen West: Mainstream "Media is Islamophobic" - Not We the People

Allen West hits the issue on the head when he states it is the mainstream media that is “Islamic-phobic”.
Everyone is focused on ISIS and their horrific actions abroad. But what if there were a series of jihadist murders here in the United States that went virtually unreported by the national media – impossible, right?
For two bloody months, an armed jihadist serial killer ran loose across the country. At least four innocent men died this spring and summer as acts of “vengeance” on behalf of aggrieved Muslims, the self-confessed murderer has now proclaimed.

Will US Military Change Small Arms Again and Change Civilian Firearm Purchases?

Marine Anti-Terrorist Group practice fire
In 1985, the US military replaced the Colt M1911 .45-caliber pistol with the Beretta M9, 9mm NATO. Soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan complained about the lessened power of the 9mm compared to the old reliable .45ACP.

Anti-Gun Activists Proven Wrong Again

States that have adopted concealed carry policies and states, like Mississippi, that do not require a permit for open carry have defied the predictions of doomsday gun controlling morons.
According to a report in the Mississippi Clarion-Ledger, one year after it became lawful to open carry, there have been no “Wild West” gun fights. Mississippi lawmakers that amended the state's definition of a concealed firearm by enacting House Bill 2 in 2013.

Military News: August 2014 - Vietnam Medal of Honor Recipient Dies at 87

Sgt Bowe Bergdahl, prisoner of the Islamic Jihadists, captured because he left his place of duty, is not the only person that needs to be put on trial. In an article by Travis J. Tritten, the Government Accountability Office stated that President Obama and the DOD illegally swapped five prisoners from Guantanamo Bay for Bergdahl by not notifying members of Congress in advance. DOD records show that Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel sent email and made phone calls to congressional leaders on the same day the swap was arranged.

Democrat District Attorney Puts Herself Above the Law

Rosemary Lehmberg arrest photo from video
Generally speaking, Democrats place themselves above the law, above rights and liberties of others; unless, of course, it is a person that does not belong to the Democratic Party of the United States. President Nixon tried to coverup Watergate and committed perjury; which Democrats immediately put together charges in a plan for impeachment hearings. President William Clinton had sexual relations with a young intern (adultery) in his workplace (no outcry from the usual feminists), the White House Oval Office, lied on public television to the American people as well as in sworn testimony. He did not resign like Nixon, but instead underwent impeachment proceedings, where the US Senate would not provide enough votes for impeachment. Now, this president with several scandals in his administration, one causing the death of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and US personnel, remains untouched and still using his executive order pen to bypass the US Congress when they do not do what he wants.

Constitutional Sheriff David Clarke Wins 2014 Primary Election

One of the great victories of constitutionalists across America this election year is the primary election of Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. - defeating the Michael Bloomberg anti-firearm and anti-Second Amendment organizations backed by his wealth. It is expected that Sheriff Clarke will also win the November election, reelected as Milwaukee County Sheriff.
Sheriff David Clarke is a constitutional sheriff, which means he honors his oath of office and encourages citizens to defend themselves and their homes from criminal predators, as well as communities according to the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
It is also a win for the National Rifle Association (NRA) for whom he has been a guest speaker for the right to carry and use firearms in defense.

Hillary and Romney to Run in 2016 Election?

Political disaster is in the news, if it be more than speculation …
Mitt Romney is putting together a campaign to run in the 2016 Republican primaries, but a CNN poll has shown that voters would support Hillary Clinton over Romney 55% to 42%.
If the Republican Party elite choose to back the GOP poster boy of 2008, it would be a disaster. If voters vote for Hillary Clinton in primaries or national presidential election of 2016, it will prove that voters do not care about corruption and leadership who takes responsibility (Benghazi tragedy).

NSSF: "Don't Cause Wildfires"

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has a new message to firearms owners:
Wildfires have many causes – don't be one of them!
NSSF is asking shooters and hunters to do their part in preventing wildfires. A new federal study has determined that the cost of fighting wildfires this year will increase by almost $500 million, which brings the annual total to $1.8 billion.
Firearm owners can minimize the risk of fire by:
  • Not using ammunition that is steel-jacketed or contains steel-core components.
  • Not using tracer rounds or exploding targets.
  • Remembering that a vehicle's or ATV's hot exhaust pipe can ignite a fire.
  • Properly extinguishing campfires.
The NSSF website has more information and you can download an NSSF poster.
Lightning has been the cause of more wildfires in Oregon and Washington in the aftermath of the terrible northwest wildfire that took lives and destroyed many homes.

Rep. Bob Latta Named 2013 Legislator of the Year by NSSF

NSSF (National Shooting Sports Foundation) has honored US Rep. Bob Latta (R-Ohio) as its 2013 Legislator of the Year during the firearms industry's annual Congressional Fly-In in Washington, DC. He was instrumental in the introduction last fall of the Sportsmen's Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act. It was a legislative package to safeguard and promote America's hunting and fishing traditions.
Latta is co-chairman of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus and advocate of hunter, sportsmen and sportswomen's issues. The bill passed early this year in the House and Latta has worked diligently with the Senate to pass the policies into law to continue outdoor legacies of American heritage and traditions.

How Much Barbarism Before Waging War Against Evil?

There are no words that can describe the horror that has taken place in the name of a religion whose doctrine mandates hatred and violence in the name of God. There should be a special place in the afterlife for those who commit atrocities against the innocence of childhood. Children are a blessing to any nation who must be nurtured and guided to become responsible adults to continue civilization, freedom and liberty preserved. I cannot fathom the recent acts of genocide and atrocities that have been reported in world-wide media of that which has occurred in Iraq. Civilized people should tolerate actions where children die from dehydration because of cruelty beyond imagination.

Grilled Sirloin Steak

Sirloin steaks were on top of my list when I used to be a meat cutter. This sirloin steak recipe serves six.
6 tablespoons soy sauce
4-1/2 teaspoons brown sugar
4-1/2 teaspoons olive oil
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons ground coriander
2 pounds beef top sirloin steak
  1. In small bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, olive oil, garlic cloves, cumin, and coriander to make a marinade. Pour one-fourth of the marinade into a large resealable plastic bag; add steak. [or use a marinade container] Seal bag and turn to coat; refrigerate for 8 hours – overnight. Cover and refrigerate remaining marinade for basting.
  2. Drain and discard marinade from steak. Using tongs, moisten a paper towel with cooking oil and lightly coat the grill rack. Grill, covered, over medium-hot heat or broil 4-inches from heat for 5-6 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness. For medium-rare, meat thermometer should read 145°F; for medium, 160°F; and well-done, 170°F, basting occasionally with reserved marinade.
Serve with side dishes of your choice, see list at Recipe Index

Discovery of 6,500-Year-Old Skeleton in Pennsylvania Museum

AP/Matt Rourke photo
An archaeology Penn Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania made a discovery, not in the field, but in its own storage rooms – a 6,500-year-old human male skeleton. The skeleton was stored in a box resembling a coffin with no documentation. The skeleton is of a man who was about 50 years old and was 5-ft, 9-in tall that was excavated in southern Iraq in 1930. The dig site was near Nasiriyah, Iraq and location of the ancient city of Ur.

Disinterested President and Congressional Concerns

Obama gave a speech and “town hall” broadcast on Hispanic TV networks concerning his illegal executive order that countered the vote of his DREAM Act …
That already stretched my administrative capacity very far. At a certain point, the reason that the deportations are taking place is Congress said you have to enforce these laws. … I cannot ignore those laws anymore than I can ignore any of the other laws on the books.

Boehner: Where is the Constitutional Convention?

Mark Levin is a nationally syndicated radio host who served as chief of staff in the Justice Department during the Reagan Administration and whose book: The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic, states that state legislatures should use the authority granted them in the Constitution to call a convention to propose amendments to the Constitution.
It was a Constitutional Convention of 1787 that worked out what was in the articles and amendments of the Constitution of the United States that replaced the Articles of Confederation adopted in 1777.

US Foreign Policy Requires the Rebirth of Common Sense and Fortitude

The truth about the continual conflict between Israel and Hamas is that the Hamas, like other neighboring Islamic fascist states believe that Israel does not have the right to exist. The sickness of US foreign policy is evident when the United States funds and supports those who agree with that statement. The Hamas, like others (Iran) do not want peace, they want global conquest – Jihad to occur. So when John Kerry orchestrates yet another ceasefire and not honoring commitment to Israel, an ally – it shows why he was not popular nor elected in his presidential campaign election.

A Special Thanks to Fellow Americans

We the People have made the necessary outcry concerning amnesty for illegal aliens and US border security. Your phone calls made to your congressional members paid off and House Speaker John Boehner has shelved it because there were not enough votes.
However, with congressional elections in August, GOP House members will meet again Friday to see if they can agree on a revised version of the bill that did not pass for a floor vote because it did not:
  • Stop the flood of illegal immigrants crossing the border.
  • Stop the possible executive order to declare amnesty for another 5 to 6 million illegals.
  • Repeal amnesty for illegal immigration who arrived as minors, granted under Obama's executive order called the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
  • Close the border.
